This mid to late Victorian brooch was lovingly handcrafted in 9 karat gold and is set with a stunning, deep purple rectangular cushion cut amethyst. Bezel set, with a fine millegrain border this jubbly gem measures 21.8 x 14 x 7.1 mm, and has estimated carat weight of an impressive 12.6 carats. Sitting atop a fine, hand pierced gallery, it is surrounded by a single row of thirty fine natural pearls. This exquisite jewel was most likely made between 1870 and 1880, and though unmarked it has been professionally acid tested for gold purity. The overall size is 32.7 x 21.8 mm and it weighs 9.1 grams.
